It all began in 1990 when Masato Ota, a guest instructor for the wind orchestra, formed the "Ko-gumi" (drum group) within the wind orchestra after living and eating at the "Ondekoza" (drum troupe) for about two months.

The group now boasts a history of over 30 years, and has won the gold medal at the Kanto High School Taiko Championship for 13 consecutive years.

Currently, there are 30 members in the group, including 12 second-year students in the 37th generation and 18 first-year students in the 38th generation.
